My sister-in-laws, sisters, daughter (did you follow that??) anyways her name is June and she is just the cutest little thing. She has been having an absurd amount of seizures every day. the doctors have been trying everything that they can think of to get them to stop and have finally resorted to a bunch of scary medications. So if you could all just say a little prayer for her I know that it would be so much appreciated !!

They were all so crazy on the ride there because they were so excited to see the EWLK. none of them slept a wink despite the pleading and begging from all of the adults.

SO we went to Puerto Rico and LOVED it!! every time I go here i remember why it is my favorite spot to vacation.

We made it safely home from Puerto Rico. We had so much fun enjoying the weather and playing in the ocean. We are right in the middle of finishing up our new house so as soon as I finish I plan on doing a LONG blog post. Also this Thursday grace turns 1 !!!! We can hardly believe it!! We are having a birthday party for her on Saturday at 3 everyone is invited !!

Christmas mistake

Ok so I thought that it would be a genius idea to get grace a doll that cries and makes noises etc... Well I am telling you that has become my Christmas mistake of 2011. At first when she heard it cry she looked at it and starting crying too so I took it and made it quit crying and gave it back ... It started crying again so she brought it back to me.. This happened a couple of times. Needless to say the batteries are out and we couldn't be happier !!!

This month Grace is 9 months old !! She has gotten to be more fun with every new stage she enters. She is still crawling all over the place, she likes to dance when music is on, hum and sing to herself in her car seat, swim in the bath, play peek-a-boo, share snacks, crawl up the stairs and read her books. The day before her 9 month mark she started standing all by herself unassisted. we are still working on the whole walking thing but she gets to nervous and sits down. She is so funny to watch dance because we will turn on some music and she will rock back and forth or side to side but then gets pretty crazy with it and ends up getting off balance and has to stop regroup and start over. We love this sweet little girl and are so glad that she is ours!!

It was my 1 year anniversary of my bowel surgeries on October 19th. I think I am going to celebrate on October 30th the day that I was finally released from the hospital. From the moment that I had my surgery to now I feel like a different person. I think that i took a lot of the simple things for granted. My parents were always telling me to slow down and smell the roses. With a baby and a job I don't know if you ever really get to stop and slow down, but I have been enjoying every minute that I have had with them.

The other night I was at work and a coworker said Haili are you always this happy? does nothing in your life ever go wrong? is your world just a perfect happy place or what? (She wasn't being rude) I didn't know how to respond at the time, but now I think I do. There are so many terrible things that happen that are out of our control. One thing that I can control is my outlook on life. a year ago this was me.

That isn't me anymore and I hope it never will be again.I am completely better with no lingering problems. I am still so grateful for all of the kindness and generosity shown to me and my family during this time. Thank you so so much. I learned so much from this experience that I wouldn't have been otherwise able to. I am at the point in my life where I can say that I am grateful for the trials I was given last year, they have gotten me to where I am at now. I cannot say that I am perfect or even close to that, in fact I am farther away then most. But I have hope to one day be better. One of my favorite talks is from Elder Uchtdorf called The Infinite Power of hope. Here are a couple of my favorite parts

They uphold us through trials, temptations, and sorrow.

For the VERY few of you who dont know this is called the Hansen trick. GRACE has mastered it and loves it. we got family pictures done a week ago and she was a little grumpy but she cheered up when she got to do this.

we have also been hitting up 7 peaks --the old raging waters we got passes and grace LOVEs the water in fact she has started swimming lessons and cant get enough

my 2 loves !!

this is our garden right before we planted anything in it. I cant wait for fresh peas, carrots, corn, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, cucumbers ETC !!!! This is our garden when we first got here except therewas a huge bush along the left side that brock ripped out all by himself (thanks honey)

She loves to be outside. we will go out there and she just starts squealing at the top of her lungs and it echos through the neighborhood.

Addi & Grace -- I learned how to make owl hats and i made a rabbit one--i think grace knows she looks a little ridiculous in them but she will wear them for me anyway.

Our sweet baby girl is growing up so quick !! I can hardly believe she will be 4 months old next week. She has got such a great personality and she is so sweet to me. when i have to work and watch grace the next day she will just play by me as a i take naps or snuggle with me and take one with me. She is smiling so much and starting to giggle, her giggles are random but they are the sweetest sound to my ears.

Last of all

a quick update on my problems. I have a new GI doctor who i think is so so so great!! and i now have a vascular doc who i meet next week. and of course my favorite & hero Dr. Mark Stevens. I had a CT scan that i previously mentioned and I also had a colonoscopy. the colonoscopy turned out to be all clean and clear and great. but the CT scan showed that my superior mesenteric vein has --in short explaination---some scar tissue and is constricted in one area and has limited blood flow going through it. collateral bloodflow is forming--blood flow that goes around this area. SO like everything i have heard before "we have seen things similar to this before just not this exactly. " so i am kind of a science experiement. they said that they think that the "scar tissue" was formed when my bowel twisted. some of my issues that i have finally taken notice of --- I have stomach aches immediatly after i eat. that feel like gas pain&cramping. lots of issues as far as stools go. --- I am so much more confident in my doctors this go around. I feel like Dr Frech(GI) has really done his job and consulted with those that he needed to and kept me in the loop etc. There are days when i get frustrated and get upset, but I am so greatful to those around me that have supported me and kept me going. I know that everyone struggles with different things. I feel like i have been blessed to have this trial, that i can learn and recover from. and i hope that i can endure it well.

OK... so for those of you still interested --my bowels are STILL going crazy !!! SO much so that I dragged them to the doc again and I am having a CT scan on them this week and a colonoscopy on them next week. really not looking forward to the latter. when i was chatting with my doc and she suggested that we do a colonoscopy scenes of ghost town started playing in my head, and I am a little worried that i am going to wake up from it and start seeing dead people. hopefully it doesnt happen, but ya never know. i will keep you updated !! for a good laugh !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i4M9q_22d8 PS-- My bowels arent twisting or anything--no pain-- just being a little overactive ..TMI? sorry

Addi is such a sweet cousin to grace everytime she calls me on the phone that is her first concern she always asks "wheres gracie" it is so so cute !!!

Jack has his hand on Grace's head and it was funny because nobody told him to do it he just went and sat down and plopped his hand on her head. slowly her head started sagging a bit and we had to rearrange the kids but it was his cute way of him showing us how he takes care of the baby !!

SO it has once again been a long time since i have blogged!! we have been really busy around our house. I started work again in March and I have been loving it, things are slowly but surely coming back to me. I love that i get to go to work and still not miss my little girl growing up. Also we blessed grace this last sunday and it was fabulous !! The whole week before i kept bugging brock asking him what he was going to bless her with and didnt he think he needed to practice and things like that and he just kept telling me that the spirit would guide him. (its a good thing he blessed her and not me or it would have been all written out and not inspired) the whole time brock was so calm and not worried about a thing. finally the big day got here and i noticed a tiny hint of nervousness. and then right before his legs were shakey and i had to tell him that the bishop had announced it was time to bless grace. I have got to say brock did such a good job listening to the spirit. our baby was blessed with everything that she could possibly need. Being the mom i never thought that i would be anxious or emotional about the whole process but i was. there is just something about motherhood that has changed me for the better even if i do get teary eyed a little bit more. Grace was beautiful in her dress . we had family and GREAT friends that traveled for hours to be with us on this special day and I am so so so greatful to all of you for being so kind and generous towards us. WE LOVE YOU!!!

Also in spirit of easter Grace and i did a little photo shoot. Now I am by no means a photographer but we stuck up a background and this is what hapened. I giggle everytime i look at these pictures.

Another thing that grace has been doing lately is rolling over. She started rolling a little bit before she was 2 months but we werent for sure if it was by accident or if she really ment to. especially because she really only does it when she wants to. which is usually about 50 or so times in a row and then she is done for a day or 2

Well we have been just hanging out taking pictures So here ya go. I go back to work on March 13 and i am going to miss this little girl, but i am very greatful that i get to work nights so i dont miss anything !!

I know that this picture makes me look like a terrible mom but i was doing laundry and grace started to fuss a bit so i put her in the basket to carry her upstairs and she immediatly stopped and put her hands up and LOVED it i dont know if it was the warm clothes or what --so this was not child abuse !!

Grace is 1 month old and time has just flown. I love being a mom more then anything and she is such a sweet girl. She is now what i would call sleeping through the night "mostly" we put her to be around 10 and she wakes up about 5. MOSTLY some night she has a random wake up at 2 and then sleep until 8 sort of a thing but she is only waking up 1 time a night.

She LOVES her swing !! we will put her in it and turn on just the sounds--- not the music, it just doesnt play the right tunes for her. Our dear Grace has bieber fever.... and is in love with garth--- garth brooks !! Sometimes when she cries brock will put on a little "baby baby baby" and grace will stop and follow the phone around.

Call me paranoid.........

We took Grace for her 2 week check up and the doctor told us that he had sent a couple of kids to the ER just that week for RSV and told us to keep grace at home or just basically away from people. SO if we are socially absent this is why. We love this little girl SO SO SO much and are so proud of her and can't wait to get her out there and share her with everybody BUT..... The last thing i want is this little girl to get sick and end up in the hospital getting poked and suffering because we are excited to show her to everybody!!! so in the mean time i am going to just show her off in pictures. Please please please help us keep our little grace safe. If you have had a cough and it has lasted longer then the common cold you could possibly have pertusis--- this will put babies in the hospital.... so if you have been sick or feel even a tickle in your throat just hold off a little while and observe from the blog !!! Thank you so much ! once again call me paranoid but if my little angel got sick it would be my fault because i am supposed to keep her safe. It would break my heart if she got sick. So call me paranoid.......

Grace Evelyn Hansen

OUr sweet little baby Grace made her first appearance on January 19, 2011. We went to the hospital on tuesday and came home with a new addition to the family on Thursday . The birth went great!! My water broke at 3:45 AM and i contracted about every minute from then until she was born. I got my epidural after feeling about 5-6 contractions (that was enough for me!!)Grace was born at 5:28PM weighing 7 pounds 12 oz. and was 20.5 inches long! we were so suprised by how big she was and one of the nurses thought that she was going to be bald BUT she came out with some hair. She has got the cutest scream on her (im sure our neighbors dont think so) it is high pitched and girly. she is also such a cute sweet baby she doesnt really cry and she even tries to sleep through the night but we wake her up to feed her. last night she went from about midnight to 7:30. Grace got a clean bill of health from the pediatrician at the hospital and has her first appointment on monday!! she passed her hearing test and her bilirubin was at a good level (no jaundice). We have been so blessed with this sweet little angel as soon as the doctor saw that all was well with her after her delivery he called her the miracle baby. and to us she is !!
Grace is named after her 2 grandmothers... grace is my mom's middle name and evelyn is brocks mothers name.. it also happens that both my mom and brocks mom were named after their grandmothers. These women are some of the best this world has seen, and there is no better people to name my daughter after. I have been so blessed with the mom that i have she has taught me so much and shown me a great example of how to be a mother, wife and friend. When i married brock i loved him so so much and of course i liked his family but.. I absolutely love jill.. I couldnt have asked for a better mother in law. she raised a great son and is an amazing person!!
we have had the best helpers this week helping us get her taken care of. We also have had so much help from friends, family, and neighbors. THANK YOU all so much!!!

Wow it has been a LONG time since I have updated so I thought it would be a good idea to make a post.
First of all we have been super super super busy!! We bought a duplex and have been painting, carpeting, cleaning, sanding etc. Right now we currently dont have the internet at our house or even TV !! so really every spare minute is spent cleaning and trying to get it ready for our baby. Currently the whole upstairs is sanitized and ready to go. I cannot tell you how nice it is to be able to walk around without shoes on !! I LOVE IT !!! but as soon as i even think about going downstairs the shoes are back on. the people that lived there before us had some pets and pet hair was everywhere. So pet owners for your landlords sake please be clean with your pets!

We did find some time to go see the lights with some friends and it was nice to get a little break in the routine. it was great! Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I love the smells- pine, cider, fresh wrapping paper, hot cocoa, fire. and all the beautiful christmas lights that are put up, christmas trees, stockings-- the whole bit. I am ashamed to say that because of the state of our house we were only able to get a teeny tiny tree-- no lights- no stockings nothing !! so our house is a christmas let down BUT NEXT YEAR watch out neighborhood !!

Grace is doing great!!! and she has developed quite the personality Brock calls me crazy but i think i am right.. when i went to get my Non stress test one week she was sleeping so they needed to wake her up to make her heart rate accelerate. so they bring this buzzer thing in that kinda vibrates and makes noise and they stick it around her head. well most kids jump and their heart rate immediatly goes up. well our dear grace just kicks at the thing and rolls over. ok maybe it was a coincidence the first time But she did it 3 MORE TIMES. the only explination i can think of is that she get so used to my bowels bugging her that, that little buzzer thing wasnt going to wake her up. So from now on I always eat a little bit of candy before i go just to keep her awake. I am so excited for her to get here! I talked my Dr. into inducing me on Jan 11, 2011.. he wouldnt do it any sooner or it would have been then. but i thought that 1-11-11 would be a pretty cool birthday.

thats a quick update! I hope everybody enjoys their holidays and is safe. Enjoy spending time with your loved ones and family!! every moment is important !! let your loved ones know that you love them. I know that more now then ever.

I know nobody gets excited for bills, and neither do I. But im not going to lie i have been very curious about my recent trip to the hospital and just exactly what something like that costs!! so in case any of you out there were wondering what an 11 day stay in the hospital, including blood tests, Oerating Room Minutes for 3 surgeries, PICC line and Arterial line placements, Pharmacy (medications), Radiology---just the tests not the Drs reading it, Room service, and any random supplies they use, Labory and delivery monitoring, Respiratory and a few adjustments here and there it comes to about
103868.20 Just a rought estimate. HAHAHAHAHA
When i first saw that number i thought it was around ten thousand and i thought to myself hey not bad. but as i was reading the number out loud it came out right and i started laughing my head off!!! sure glad for insurance!!! i cant wait to see what all the Dr's are going to charge !

I have almost been out of the hospital for a week now, and let me tell you it is great to be out of that place! I first of all want to start off by telling everybody that prayed, fasted, sent flowers, visited, and everything else-- thank you so so so much. you will never know how much your love and support has ment to me and Brock during this difficult time. I know that I was healed, and our baby was saved by a pure miracle and i am greatful every day for that. I am truely humbled by the kindness that has been shown to my family during this time and all I can really say is thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Also to catch you up from where Brock left off. I woke up from my last surgery and quite honestly I dont really remember what day it was. I remember people coming and visiting, my mom and brock showing me cards that people had left, and getting updates about how eden was doing in district volleyball tournaments. I started really "coming to" on Saturday- Oct 23. when i was moved out of the shock and trauma ICU. That day i got another NG tube put down my nose to feed me. I will tell you that i am so glad that i was out of it when they put the first big one down because the 2nd smaller one was TERRIBLE!!! mostly because they had to go past my stomach a little bit. the next couple of days i spent recovering and trying to regain my strength. I was finally allowed to eat food on wednesday oct 27. I was so excited but soon found out that it wasnt going to be that great of an experience. I have no appetite after not eating anything for about a week, and when i did eat i got filled up so quickly it was hardly worth my effort. the first day i was only able to get 600 calories down- and i was trying my hardest!!! on thursday they told me i needed to get down a lot more food so i tried again and did a little better but still not great. and then on friday they said that if i wanted to go home i had to get down 2500 calories!! I COULDNT believe it!! never in my life have i ever eaten 2500 calories in one day-- at least not that i can remember. I figure my normal diet probably consists of anywhere between 1500-1800 calories and thats on a good day when i get time to eat 3 meals.----- i somehow got enough calories down that day (thank you carnation breakfast drinks that have 560 calories !!!) and i got discharged saturday morning.

SInce being discharged my life has been very different from what i am used to. I consider myself to be highly independent and able to do basically everything for myself. well.. not so much anymore. I struggle daily trying to eat... i have no appetite and everything tastes different then it used to. SO my mom and Brock have been pushing food down me like crazy. I think i have been making small improvements and hopefully will be able to get back to a somewhat "normal" eating habit. This may be TMI but hey everybody poops so here ya go. My bowels are somewhat eager to work, so much so that they are working like crazy and things just shoot right through me. I have had a few close calls and i promise to never laugh at those boys that pooped their pants on their mission... enough about that.... Grace as far as we know is doing great i go to the doctor weekly and also get non-stress tests weekly. they measure her heart rate, contractions, and check her fluid to make sure everything is progressing normally. SO far so good. I am so nervous to find out if there are going to be any effects from my surgery, and all the medications that i was given that could hurt her permanatly. Right now that is my biggest fear.

I would also like to say that if you or anybody you know is having medical problems, whatever it may be... If a doctor or Nurse or whoever is ignoring your concerns or telling you that it is no big deal or anything along that line, and it is a big deal to you... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT... It is not ok.. DO NOT be ignored !! Looking back at the 2 months that I endured this pain, and had the fear of not knowing when i was going to have an "episode" and not getting the help or attention from medical professionals that i needed my biggest regret is that i did let them push me aside and ignore me.. its not ok.

I am so so so greatful for my special nurse in the labor and delivery unit at IMC. she paid attention to me and took me serious--- she did her job as a nurse!! she realized that my pain wasnt a typical pregnancy pain or "just gas" as i had previously been told. If she would have ignored me I wouldnt be here today.... I am also forever indebted to Dr. Stevens (my surgeon) who first of all had the courage to operate on me not only 1 time but 3 different times. and also giving me a chance to heal instead of just cutting all my guts out of me. Being 22 I never really thought about dieing, it just really wasnt one of my concerns. I am so greatful that i was given a 2nd chance at life. I have said it before but i am saying it again. I have the best husband!! He is one of the greatest men i know and i am so blessed to have him. I wouldnt be here without him.. he could have just said lets wait a couple of hours before we go to the hospital... but he didnt he took me immediatly and saved me!!

I believe in miracles.. I know i was saved, and showed incredible mercy from God. I am greatful everyday for this

Update on Haili

Well this is my first and only blog post so bare with me. This is Brock; Haili wanted me to make a post so that everyone knows what is going on with her and how she is doing. At the end of the post I will post a few pictures so if you don't want to see them, don't scroll down.

A few months ago haili started getting intense pains in her bowels. We took her to ER on two different occasions and one time they told us that she had pregnancy pains and the FLU. The Second time they gave her high amounts of Morphine and Dilaudid and it didn't even work. That is some intense pain! They did an MRI and came to the conclusion that she has Intusseption (When part of your bowel swallows/overlaps the other part.). They then sent us home and told us that there was nothing we could do since she is pregnant. All they instructed us to do were to wait and if the pain lasts longer than 6 hours to go into the ER. Over the next few weeks Haili endured these pains for hours at a time.

On Monday night I dropped Haili off at work at 7pm. At 2am Tuesday morning she called me and asked me to come get her and that an episode was starting again. I took her home and within minutes she said she had to go to the hospital. I grabbed her and took her to Labor and Delivery instead of the ER. We got her there and they gave her some Dilaudid, and it didn't touch her pain again. The Nurse there realized that this is something that needs to be dealt with and not dismissed. They gave her an epidural and then ordered a CT scan. After the results came back our room was bombarded with Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, Residents, etc... They said her bowels are twisted and had no blood in them. They said they had to get her to the OR immediately or that she would die.

The first Surgery was Tuesday morning and after the Doctor (Stevens) came out and said that what she has is very serious. It is called MAL-ROTATION of the BOWEL. When we are still in the womb our insides go out from our body, rotate and then go back in. When she was in the womb it did not rotate/or rotate correctly. Usually it causes pain to the infant from 1 month to 1 year. Haili lived a pain free life until she got pregnant and her uterus started expanding. The Surgeon said that when they opened her up that her Bowels were Black and dark Purple instead of Pink. They were going to remove her Bowels and put her on an IV Feed for the rest of her life. Given that she is 22 yrs old and pregnant, they decided to take a chance to give her a normal life. They took out bowels out and untwisted them 720 degrees. When her bowels twisted it cut off all the blood flow and thus caused the pain. As they untwisted them they noticed that a few parts started getting some good color back. They made a decision to leave her open for 8 hours to give her bowels a chance to heal.

The following 8 hours were tough. She was intibated and paralyzed since they could not have her move, cough, etc... Her stomach was wide open with plastic covering the bowels. There were worries about the Baby and whether or not she would need to be delivered or even survive all that Hail’s body was going through. At 8pm surgery started again and a few hours later the surgeon came out and told us what had happened. He said that 60% of her bowels he regained the PINK color. He said that he was cautiously optimistic that Haili might be alright. They decided to leave her open once more but this time until Thursday morning. They wanted to give her bowels more time to heal. The options of the third surgery were:

1) See that they are healed and sew her back up.
2) Cut out the dead parts of the bowel and stitch the good parts together.

This was a big risk in itself since she was contracting a little bit, she has the chance of infection and other effects. On Wednesday afternoon they took the paralytic medicine off and she woke up very slowly, but only to have her arms tied down and sedatives in place so that she would not move or freak out. All she could do was nod her head yes or no to questions and eventually write questions she had on pieces of paper. She was miserable and in very bad shape. She handled the tubes, in mouth, throat, nose very well and remained calm.

Thursday morning they operated one last time. It went great! The Surgeons were amazed that her bowels had just about healed (with the exceptions of a few dark spots). They sewed her back up and since then she has been in the Shock Trauma ICU. In the last few days she has had some Ups and some Downs. She has had some post surgery complications but has fought through them. She has been very strong. She is still very weak and tired. It is hard to talk to her since she does not have much energy, however between writing on paper and whispering words she has managed to keep her sense of humor. Things are looking good and it will be a long road to recovery. We are so fortunate that so many Doctors and Nurses gave extra care to her. Everyone in the whole hospital knew about her and would have done anything for her. We are thankful that this time a Surgeon had the courage to open up a 22 year old pregnant woman without really knowing what he was going to see. If he would have waited she would have died. With the exception of a few crappy doctors that led up to this event, we received above and beyond care from the best Doctors in the state.

We have witnessed a MIRACLE. She either should have died, lost the baby, or lost her bowels. She went from WORST CASE scenario to BEST CASE! We are so grateful for all the prayers, Phone Calls, Texts, Flowers, Fast’s, etc... We will never know who all prayed for us, or who all fasted us (There were many) but to those of you who did and are still doing so, THANK YOU!!! We know that through all these things Haili was saved and so was our baby (Grace). We still need your payers since this is not over yet.

Sewing:
I have been sewing like a crazy lady trying to get everything ready. my goal is to have everything finished by the middle of november!!! I know I know its a crazy goal but.... I just have to !! BECAUSE ......

We are under contract on a duplex that i am IN LOVE with !! a quick description is it has white brick on the outside, great landscaping, 4 bedrooms 2 baths 2 fireplaces a garage!!! I am so so excited.. Brock keeps telling me not to get my emotions involved and i have to look at it as an investment but come on i have to live there right??? anyway the one side that we are renting out, the people have been living there for like 5 years and dont plan on really moving ever ! which is so exciting... we did have to have he other side move out. On the side we are moving into needs just a few things updated. mostly carpet/flooring, windows, and of course paint. So thats why my goal is the middle of november to be done with baby stuff because... we are planning on closing end of october/beginning of november cant move in until 30 days after --unless the people living in there right now move out sooner. So lets keep our fingers crossed that everything goes as planned !!!

For some new news .......... Brock and I have been looking at buying a house/duplex/etc. and I think we found one!!! we are in the middle of negotiations so as soon as its all straightened out i will post pics and all of the fun stuff !!! but just know that i am so so so so so... excited !!!

I am not the most mushy person in the world. And basically I like to keep my private matters just like that private. i think thats what make me such a bad blogger!! But... I am going to go out of my comfort zone a bit and publisize (i dont know if thats a word) my private !! From the previous post you understand kinda the sitution I am in. Through all of this I have briefly told you that brock was great, but i wanted to tell you how great !!!!
You know what a little bunny rabbit looks like when you put a spot light on it, or a deer in headlights look??? The first time I had my pain--in idaho--although i didnt get to see him when my mom told him she was taking me to the hospital and he needed to hurry and get there, I imagine brock having that look on his face. When he first got to the hospital he immediately came and sat on my bed gave me a quick kiss, rubbed my arm and asked if he could do anything for me. The whole time i was in that hospital bed I saw a look of desperation on his face although my family was joking around me and we were giggling here and there Brock was paying attention to and anticipating my every need. The nurse said i needed to drink water so brock came and sat on my bed again and tried to get it down me. even though we went home thinking i was just dehydrated Brock carried me downstairs, put me in bed, brought me some water just in case i needed it, and warmed me up since i was still shivering.
now i know these sound like simple easy tasks that you think to yourself well if my loved one were in this situation i would probably do the same thing...and maybe you would. Brock did!!
I am not going to take you through each hospital visit But i will tell you that since i work nights and have to catch up on my sleep during the days I have kinda been the worst house wife ever. I have woke up some days to Brock having the house spotless--dishes done, carpets vaccuumed. the whole 9 yards!!
The last but not least, the last "episode" that i had lasted from about 6:30 to about 4 in the morning. It was bearable but brock sat by my side the ENTIRE time. for the first hour he drove me around because we thought it would take my mind off it. Then everytime my breathing changed because my pain would get more intense i would see brock stop what he was doing and put his full attention on me. He called the hospital and demanded to talk to the oncall OB at 3 in the morning. He refused to go to bed because he didnt want me to go through this alone....
I honestly dont know who reads my blog and unless you are some creep putting the heads of my pictures on inappropriate pictures i dont care that ya do in fact welcome i hope you enjoy your stay..... I just dont think that i am as kind and thoughtful and caring as Brock has been. I have been blessed to have been able to marry him! I have been blessed to have such an amazing man that is selfless, caring, and attentive to me and my every need. I am so greatful that brock is a worthy priesthood holder. I know that my pain has been lessened because of his faith. During times of struggle it is sometimes difficult to see the bigger picture, Brock has continually given me strength by helping me increase my faith and showing me a christlike example. i say that i love him and i do so so so much but it just doesnt feel like the right word... i wish there was more that i could say because what i think & feel for this sweet man seems like so much more !!!!

Health Update

Ya know when it just seems like everything in your life is going wrong and the onlything left to say is well at least you have your health..... well things have actually been going pretty good but my health is on this roller coaster!!! So here is what is going on.

A couple of weeks ago i had what we will call an "episode." What happens is, i get nausea/vomiting and then my stomach starts hurting. it burns aches and cramps. i also get the hot sweats, and as much as it embarasses brock i have to strip down to my birthday suit put ice packs on me and a fan. TMI?? This pain lasts for about 3-4 hours and then as soon as it is gone i get chills and start shivering for about an hour. these "episodes" have been happening every couple of days without any warning. the first time i went to the ER they thought i was dehydrated from all of the vomiting. so they hooked me up to some IV fluids and sent me home. my 2nd ER trip they gave me as much morphine and dilaudid as i could get all the while i was still screaming from pain, did a ultrasound and found nothing... so i got an MRI.. they found that i have an intussusception of my bowel... google it..

SO. my options are.... drum roll.....

Surgery, oh but wait! I cant have surgery because my intussusception fixes itself and it doesnt cut off the blood flow well at least yet.. So my dr's orders are wait for the pain to last for 6 hours then maybe your bowel is dead come in and we will take a look and see if we can do surgery... oh yeah this also would be super high risk because of your pregnancy. oh and also we dont really see this in adults usually its babies so you are kinda our first patient that we have ever seen with this....

so my brilliant Ob sends me to a gastroenterologist--he knows about bowels right... I paid $50 for a specialist to sit down with me retell me everything that they told me at the hospital and the only dietary advice he has is to stay hydrated.... Thanks doc can i have my $50 dollars back so i can shove it up your bum and make you feel the pain that i have been feeling and then maybe you will be a little more interested and advise something more then hydration.

so thats whats going on...as far as what can be done ---- basically nothing until my bowel dies. I would like to thank all those that have prayed and fasted for me this has been a difficult process and your support means alot. my next step i guess is to meet with a surgeon. until then we are gonna keep praying that i dont have anymore "episodes"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this Cute boy !!!!(now 26)

Today is Brock's Special day so i wanted to give a little shout out to him. I love this guy more and more every day, and with every new experience that we go through. Recently I have been having some health problems i guess you could say and Brock has gone above and beyond what i think any average husband would go. He has put up with me screaming at the top of my lungs, held me when i cried, made me laugh when it was the last thing i wanted to do. I know this picture is of a little boy, but the man that i married is amazing !! Yeah there are time when he acts about the age he is in that picture, but i love him for it. So brock when you read this thank you so much for being the husband you are. I love you more then ever and am so glad we get to spend forever together. You are going to be the best dad ever. FAIR TIME

As all of you should know I LOVE the fair!! in particular the Eastern Idaho State fair. This year Brock and I only got to go 2 nights and it was a little bit disappointing..... here are my reasons.

1. Eden was playing volleyball the days we were there so it was only logical for us to go watch her play while we were there --- meaning our fair time was severly cut down. We got there about 7 and left about 10ish....

2. I WAS SICK... oh boy was i sick. Brock and I sped up to Idaho thursday morning right after i got off work, that day brock had to work in pocatello so my mom met us and took me home. BUT... not before i woofed my cookies right in front of the key bank as all of the tellers and workers were walking in & not to mention it was right by a stop light where there was some road construction. did i feel stupid--- Nope... in fact i did my business and went on my way. thursday night I got super super sick---and dehydrated and had some wierd pains going on so we made a visit to the doc... NO worries everything is fine but the way i felt i thought i was dying and if i was gonna die I at least wanted something to dull the pain. but all i got was a bunch of IV fluid. our little baby was pretty stressed out but when i finally (after 3-4 hours) got rehydrated she was a little bit happier. ALSO----what i found to be SO RUDE was this--- I still consider myself an idahoan. well as i was getting checked in and everything eden was sitting outside and could hear the nurses fighting over who was going to take me because i was "from utah" those big retards if they only knew i was the best patient they would ever have. so Bingham memorial expect a call about hippa violations, and discrimination-- you made this idaho/utah pregnant lady a bit upset.

MOVING ON.....
3. While I was at the fair...... OH BOY! I love seeing people that i havent seen for a while and catching up...its probably on the top 5 reasons to go to the fair. well what Brock and I laughed about for hours is that we saw probably 4-5 of my ex-boyfriends that i dated OVER 4 years ago and every single on of them ducked their heads or tried to avoid eye contact every time we saw them. Brock thinks i must have just been bad at breaking up with them, and they took it a little too hard or something. and i just dont get it....but i do think it is funny-- lets be honest here I love my husband more than anything. he is the best man i have EVER met. but just as he has people he dated before so do i. Brock kinda loved them and left them. but i thought i was friends with these people and its just weird that they would act so crazy---- ok my rant is over but i thought it was humorous.

4. THE BIGGEST LOSER. Brock, my mom, Britni & my dad are doing a family biggest loser. The entry fee to get in was $200 a person so the winner will actually be taking home $600. it started in august and the last weigh in is at State Volleyball October 30. so far Brock has lost about 16 pounds (and is looking mighty fine!!) and everybody else about 5-6. Brock would like to still loose about 15 more pounds, and if he does nobody will be able to touch him and he will be the winner!!! But...lets just say the fair wasnt a good place to go while on a diet. The first night i was there i ate scone nuggets-prime rib sandwich-trout-chocolate covered cheesecake- and basically snacked on whatever was around.

I do love the fair but i didnt even get to make it all around the circle more then 1 time. or ride any rides or buy me a really big cotton candy. I know this sounds kinda like a grumpy post but i still love the fair and i had a wonderful time in idaho! and i cant wait for next year. we didnt get too many pictures, maybe when we make it to the utath state fair !!! thank heavens the utah state fair is going on this week and you better believe i will be there at least once to see if i can get my fair fill !!!

Boating weekend

This last week Brock and I got to go to idaho and spend some time with my family. It was a great time!!! Addi got to come stay and play with me during the week and we had such a good time. She is such a sweet little girl, i changed her diaper for her and she said thank you !!! hahaha i nearly laughed myself to death never once has a kid told me thanks for changing their diaper in fact usually they are trying to run away or kick and fight.. Also i got to hang out with my mom and edee and maddi and had a great time !! Also brock and i went to the Dr yesterday to see how things are going with the baby... Heart Rate was 165 and the little thing kept wiggling around in there like crazy. This is the 2nd time that a Dr. has told us that we have an extremely active child!! i just hope that when we get to meet it we will be able to keep up !!! so on the baby front everything is going great.... now i just have to tell my job !!! wish me luck !!!

$dollar store$ AWESOME

Alright so... the ther day as i was blog surfing i came upon a blog that declared LA's Awesome cleaner stuff to be totally awesome and especially for 1$. well I have been slacking the last little bit with being an awesome cleaner so i decided to test it out and see how awesome it was. Well...... went to the dollar store picked up some of the regular awesome stuff and some of the awesome calcium, rust and lime.I am TOTALLY and AWESOMeLY IN LOVE with it. Living in a condo there is more hard water then you could ever imagine in the kitchen, bathroom and i guess anywhere else you would have water. In our shower there were things in there that i thought a jack hammer wouldnt get off, and my new AWESOME cleaner got off i couldnt believe it. and trust me by my history of blogging you can see that i really dont blog about little things this was a HUGE event !!! and it only cost me 1$. there are a bunch of other products that they have and as soon as i can get myself over there i am going to buy at least one of each. here are some differences between my shower

I just sprayed it on and let it sit for a couple of minutes and got a scrub brush and rubbed it in then washed it off and this is what i got i couldnt believe it !!!!! its AWESOME

well..... everybody knows already but i have gotten told a couple of times already that i should make a blog post out of it so.... here it is. IN january 2011 brock and i will be joining the parents club. We had our first doc appointment and sure enough there is something in there wiggling around like crazy. our "official" due date is Jan. 19 2011 but we want to try for a 1/11/11 baby !!! We are excited and very very nervous!!! BUT I have been getting some practice with babies working in the NICU, which i absolutely LOVE!!! those sweet little babies are so precious I am so glad that things worked out and i got the job!!! so thats our story !! SUPRISE (i will post ultrasoundpics as soon as i figure out how)

Long Time

It has been quite a while since I have posted and there are a few things that we have been up to so......... here we go.

I got to go to Boise with my family and watch Eden run at the state track meet. Eden is a returning state champion in the 100m hurdles and the 300 m hurdles. Coming into the state competition she was placed 2nd in the 100 m hurdles because there was one girl that recorded a faster time then her. so we were really worried that she might get beat and lose her state title. BUT.... i will let you be a judge for yourself with her pictures. I just have to say that I always knew that eden was fast but i mean when we would say race you to the house or something like that i felt like i kept up with her (maybe i should have run track hahaha) j.k but eden just must have been being nice to me. We are so proud of eden and how hard she works to do her best !!!!

NEXT ITEM OF BUSINESS

Brock graduated and we went and got to watch him recieve his diploma. There is something about being done with school that makes you breathe a little easier. I would have to say that school was probably Brocks least favorite thing to do in the world, but he stuck with it and got it over and done with.Brocks cousins Cole and Jess also graduated. CONGRATS GUYS He is such a good guy and I am so proud of him for graduating and being such a good husband.

OKey dokey.. soo this might be another boring one. but i thought it was funny.... Brock and I just got called a couple of weeks ago to be the 14yr olds sunday school teachers. here are some of my favorite comments

WARNING: brock told me that my last post was really boring and nobody likes to read boring posts. So unless you want to read something about me my mom and eden .... it might be best if you skipped this post.

With that said here we go !!!!!

This last weekend my mom and eden came down to watch a couple of teams (that have been recruiting eden) play in a volleyball tournament. I always love it when they get to come down because we always have SO SO much fun together. So friday night we went and ate at Benihana, and of course ordered 2 extra orders of rice to go--- thats just what we do..... and since the tournament was in orem we drove down there and got a hotel. ( a special thanks to dear sweet brock for always letting me run away with my mom and sisters when they come around) We had some time to spare so we went to check and see if the hot light was on at KRISPY KREME and we were in luck because it was and at 10:00PM we sat down to some HOT doughnuts. then went back to our hotel I would love to go into every detail of our night and tell you that we got in our PJs and told scary stories to eachother... but whats more on my mind is MAW SPECIAL & FAVORITE. Now to some these names are just crazy ! but MAW got her name because we she is our ma and thats how addi says it but eden and I like to throw on a bit of a southern accent... but Special & Favorite go wwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyyy....... back .(ps. we were talkin funny talk in the bathroom at the tournament and this lady said "ok I have got to ask where you guys are from." We all broke down laughing and said Southern Idaho . HAHAHA) The story goes somewhat like this......
One summer my mom decided that she was going to "trim up" all of her bushes and trees around the house and give them a makeover. She was lucky enough to have 2 daughters- 1 that could drive and 1 that was pretty strong. ME being them both (haha j/k eden is strong, i could just drive) So she went about cuttting like Edward Sizzorhands- any thing that got in her way got cut off. So me & eden tried to keep our distance.....Our jobs were to load up the back of the truck with all of the branches (or whatever) that got cut off drive it to the dump and empty it and then come back and do it all over again. after a couple of days of doing this Eden & I were sick & tired of picking up branches & driving them to the dump and throwing them out of the back of the truck. our arms and legs had taken a beaten up from doing all of this. We had been complaining all day and ended up calling eachother a few names sisters shouldn't and my mom had had enough...... She gave us the talk that nice girls don't talk that way to eachother blah blah blah. So the "NICE" names that we came up with for eachother Were special-EDEN and favorite-Me. because eden is "special" if ya get my drift and eden thought that my mom favored me. The names stuck and we made them permanent. One time on our way from the house to the dump the branches kept falling out onto the road and since i was driving i would make special jump out and grab them and throw them back in. -----I know it doesnt seem like that hefty of a task but after doing it for days and over and over... it becomes wearing on ya. ----anyway special had just made herself an icecream cone before we left so she was ticked off it was her turn to throw the branches in in the first place.... so i thought that it would be funny to pull a trick on her. as soon as she came to get back in the truck i started going and made her walk for a while... most people stop and say "come on just let me back in" NOT SPECIAL she just kept running by the side so i picked up speed a little bit until at one point she was at a sprint she threw her freshly made icecream at me and i slammed on the breaks----- She ran into her open door and it knocked her down.. then she got up jumped in, retrieved her icecream cone wiped it off with her finger and started eating it again. I cannot think of another time when i have ever laughed so hard for so long.
Also throughout this time I LOVED the wreckers (michelle branch) and I had just gotten their CD. I made eden listen to it over and over and over all summer and it drove her crazy.... to the point where she actually liked it. .... There were sooo many more events like this that happened.
That summer was one of my most memorable. Eden& I got to develop our relationship and we had a lot of fun doing it. (our poor trees looked like they were dead by the end of it but they did grow back !!)Sorry mom that we complained so much about it.... I always thought of eden as a friend but that summer we became Special & Favorite friends!!! We went through a rough patch there for a bit and we have been working on things and being able to spend this last weekend with herI am pretty sure that I HAVE MY SPECIAL BACK and i couldnt be happier !!!!! Edee-eedle my needle- special-E-ETC.... I LOVE YOU !!! Good luck with picking where to play !!!!

This last weekend Brock and I had so much fun! we got to go to Idaho on Thursday night because Brock had to work in Pocatello on Friday. ( I always like when he gets to go to idaho for work because then i have an extra excuse to go there) Even better this past weekend eden & maddi were out for spring break.... So We made all of these big plans for all of us to go a movie and hang out on friday.... It didnt happen !! but it was alright we got to still hang out at my parents house and then we made a quick trip to idaho falls to get supplies for our easter feast. We went to Sam's Club!!! if you have ever seen us shop together it is hillarious, especially when there are samples!! & if we have ever ran in to you or ran over your child we are very sorry... sometimes that happens !! On friday night brit chris and addi & the boys got to come down, it is always so much fun when we all get together.
saturday morning the boys woke up early to go get the cows taken care of. and us girls got out of bed a little bit later. then later that night the boys went to the priesthood session and it was Sage's first time !!!
Sunday morning we woke up (the boys were already gone to go take care of the cows) and got things ready for conference and the easter egg hunt. On saturday night madeleine had spent hours filling up easter eggs. so eden went and hid them all over our yard for addi, maddi, jack&holden. really addi and maddi were there only ones that got to find them. we watched conference and then ate Lunch !! which was fantastic. then the hunt was on for the golden egg !!! (every year my parents hide a egg with a note inside that says you have found the 100 dollar egg.) this year it was outside and our (1)first clue was that it was on the front half of the property. which really wasnt a clue at all. (2) on the front half from the green house over. (3) on the font half between the drive ways (4) on the right side of the center driveway (5) in the bark area in the trees on the right. (5) it is touching the ground (6) can be seen -not buried (7) on the west half. and finally........ Dexter found it !! that lucky duck..... then we watched (somewhat) the 2nd session of the day of conference. after that everybody went home.
ON our way home we stopped at phil & jills house and visited for a while. THEN WE WENT HOME........... TO A FLOOD ............ I opened up the door and i smelled some sort of a stench coming from inside. and i thought to myself. ok i know that i washed the dishes before we left and i know that we took the garbage out... what could it be.... so i walked in the door and stepped into... A PUDDLE ..... OUR CONDO WAS FLOODED. so i turned on the light and all i could hear was drip drip drip drip. I COULDNT BELIEVE IT. LONG STORY SHORT we moved our furniture- pulled up our carpet- turned off the water-fixed the broken sink- and have had the fans going on the carpet for the past couple of days !!! So if you come and knock on my door make sure you knock really hard because i will be in the back confined to my bedroom until this is all cleared up !!!

well we are finally home from our cruise ! We had such a good time. Here is our day by day review !!!!

DAY 1 (Flight & Boarding)

We woke up real early to be able to make it to our flight. Phil was so nice to drive us to the airport and make sure that we were all taken care of. We got our tickets and walked to our gate, when we got there, there were all these big tall athletic men sitting around. Well we figured out that they were the Basketball team that the Jazz had played the night before ( and beat !!!) I didnt take a picture of them because I didn't want to be one of "THOSE" girls. When they called our flight number to board they basically sent us OUT BACK and put us on one of the smallest planes in the whole airplane. it probably held about 30-40 people. so I was pretty nervous. But we made it to long beach safe and took a shuttle over to the port. and had a couple of hours to burn before we needed to get on so we walked around and took some pictures

DAY 2 ( DAY AT SEA)

This was our first WHOLE day at SEA. I was so suprised that neither of us got SEA SICK or anything. We basically laid out the whole day and read our books. so kind of a boring day but a boring day that we really needed to have !! Also Brock and I went really really cheap when it came to booking this cruise because we figured that we werent going to spend any time in our room except to sleep. This night we went and ate at the GOLDEN PEARL .... it was delicious!!!! And we had the best waiters EVER!!!

DAY 3 (DAY AT SEA)

After our first day at sea we were kind of ready to have a day off of the sea but no such luck for us. this day we basically did the same thing that we had done the day before BUT !!! i had the hardest time figuring out the boat and finding exactly where i was and where i needed to go etc!! it was tough.. Somehow Brock and i found this little deck where there were only about 2 or 3 other couples. where the wind barely blew and it was just perfect. it reminded me of the titanic deck where jack and rose spit off the edge and her mom caught them. and yes we spit off the deck too......

DAY 4 (PEURTO VALLARTA)

YES !!!! finally LAND !!!! At this port we got to go on a big ZIP LINE !!! we were all the way at the top of the mountains !!! here are some pics of our day

while we were walking back to get on the ship we came across this mime. and casually sat and watched for a couple of minutes..... well somehow the guy picked me out of the crowd and brock pushed me into the action.... the only reason we have pictures of me is because after a little while Brock was brought in too !!!! he made us do some crazy things that we would usually never do but we did..... (this really is a longer story if you really want to hear it all call us and we will let you know)

DAY 5 MAZATLAN

This really wasnt our favorite spot. It was basically all shopping and we really arent into that sort of thing but we probably walked 10 miles !!!!

DAY 6 CABO SAN LUCAS !!!!!

THIS WAS OUR FAVORITE !!!! we only got to spend 8 hours here but it was well worth it... We got a tour around what they call lovers beach and divorce beach and they took us out to see the sea lions and then dropped us off on a beach. we had been wanting to go parasailing the whole time so we finally did it !!!! I was so nervous at first but it ended up being so so so much fun !!!! i will upload videos later.. Also as soon as we got back on the boat I go sick... So my dear sweet husband took care of me. skipped dinner at the Golden Pearl and got me some buffet food. and he took care of me all night !!!!

DAY 7 we were back on the boat again all day... I was still pretty sick so I just read my book. Poor Brock continued to take care of me. He is such a good husband and I love him more then ever !!!! So i rewarded him and........ SENT HIM TO THE CASINO..... hahaha he had fun.

Day 8 We docked at 9 in the morning and ended up getting off of the ship around 11. and our plane didnt take off until 6:45 so we went and checked our bags and then went to the mall. and for the first time we took a bus !!! we didnt really know how they worked but we figured it out with some help from the locals ....... when we got back to board our flight Delta had overbooked our flight and we were the lucky ones that got to stay in long beach another night with compensation. $ 400 a piece to use at delta, a hotel for the night, transportation, and breakfast. so we thought it was a pretty good deal. we just had to catch a flight at 6:45am we woke up at 5 to catch our shuttle. barely made it though security checks and onto our flight !!!!

Over all we had a great vacation! We met some really amazing people from Alaska and had so much fun getting to know them and spending time with them. Also it was so good to get away for a little bit and just have some time together. BUT.... next time we want every body to come, so yes if you are reading this you are invited to !!! we think a cruise would be so much fun with a lot of friends and family.

Alright the time has finally come we are going on our CRUISE !! We have been waiting to go on a vacation since...... well before we got married. Our honeymoon was great and everything but Park City really isnt MEXICO. So to all of you staying here in the cold- and random snow storms that we have been getting I am sorry and when i get back hopefully i will have some pictures that can bring a little heat to your heart !!!
On a little bit different note I am still looking for a job dang it !!! but I guess since I have been in Idaho the past two weeks and then going on a vacay for another week i guess its good i dont have one yet. but keep your eyes and ears open for me !!!!
PS... please pray for my dear husband.... I am worried that his fair skin wont do too hot in that mexican weather.... (hahahaha)

Ok so here is just a really quick update. I graduated- even went to it!!! and took my NCLEX (the test that really makes you a nurse) and I PASSED. so now its off to job hunting !!!

OH and Brock and I are going on a cruise on March 7-14 so if anybody has any good cruise tips I would definatly LOVE to hear them because this is our first !!!

The Rumors Are True

Thats right everybody WE ARE DONE (and by done i mean graduated) !!!!!! so I know that Brock was done in december and everything but i couldnt make everything official until now because i wasnt quite finished. so here is the deal My graduation ceremony (which for those of you that know, im not too hot on going to graduations, especially my own) is Feb 10th in Provo. I havent quite decided if i am going yet and if history repeats its self i wont decide until the morning of.

Now that i am finished with nursing school i have a few things that i would like to get accomplished.
1. Build something (For those of you like me who LOVE to blog surf. check out the knockoffwood link this lady is amazing and has inspired me to build something. so be looking for future posts on that. )
2. Catch up on all of my sewing projects. (There are alot of people having babies this year !!!!! and brock has a couple of shirts he has been bugging me about for a while that need to be "fitted")
3. Visiting Teaching- I am the worst visiting teacher EVER so i am gonna do better with that.
4. Read a bunch of new books - I have lots on my list.
5. I almost forgot GET A JOB !!!!!- so if any of you people out there in blogging land know of any new graduate nursing positions let me know then i could cross this one off my list!

Christmas Trees & Rivalries

This Christmas is completely different from last Christmas, and thank heavens it is. Not that last Christmas was terrible (how can Christmas be bad?) but lets just say we have made some progression. Last year Brock and I bought those tiny little minature trees and decorated them with lights and little chains we made out of paper. This year we have a new and improved REAL TREE !!! with lights and even Christmas ornaments. Now it is far from the "perfect tree" but still it is good. When we went to buy ornaments i wanted to do like a silver and blue and decorate it all cute. the whole time we were in the store Brock kept asking if blue and silver were christmas colors.... I had to kindly explain to him that Christmas trees dont have to be docorated in "christmas colors" they just needed to look cute. even after our christmas tree 101 course brock still kept saying things like- well are you sure you dont want a little red on it. AND FINALLY...... Haili I dont want to have a BYU christmas tree. OH BOY !!!! So i said ok well do you want to put some red ornaments on it too, or how about a big red bow on top, or just some red ribbon. -the red ribbon was the winner. so when you see the picture of our Christmas tree please do not judge because in our house we do not discriminate between BYU and UofU. they are both represented in our home. (hence the ugly red ribbon that messed up my blue and silver) I never knew that decorating your christmas tree could be such a hassel. Next year I hope to do better. (and i have learned my lesson to not pick BYU or Utah colors) maybe i will just stick with a silver and gold option.

ok so i took a little peak at my camera card and decided that i have a few pics that need to be posted and its all out of order a bit.

SO first things first (not in chronilogical order but more of an importance order)

Brock and I got to go to Coeur d' Alene with my family for state volleyball. Let me tell you that it is gorgeous there and I love it !! but also i am the worst person when it comes to taking pictures so of course i have far and few pictures.

So there are the very few pics i got of us actually out and about. there was this cute little boardwalk right on the lake so my sisters brock and i and my mom went and walked around it. it was a pretty cold day and the wind was blowing so that if you werent careful the water would come splash into you, it was kinda like walking to a mine field, but with water.

Now for the real reason we went up north was to watch edee play volleyball and my mom coach. let me tell you what Edee is a super star and i cant believe how good she is. Another thing that is suprising when you think that my mom was a cheerleader in highschool is that she is one of the best coaches i have ever seen. she knows how to get her players in, and when to pull them out and how to motivate etc. etc. As far as the team went not so great but the VanOrden women went and showed those northerners whats up !!! OH BTW eden has brown hair now-

Also if you know anything about our sweet little maddi, you know that she is a water woman. as soon as we even mentioned that we were about 30 minutes away from the hotel she was already trying to get people into the pool with her, and insisted that once we got there we all got it. It didnt quite work out that way, but every chance maddi had she was in the pool. her friend Ashley went with her and even little addi got to go play.

also a while ago i finally got my break from school which consists of one week of freedom and then it is back to school and here are a few fun things that i got to do

DIY canopy bed

We moved in about 2 months ago and I am now finally finishing my bed. This is kinda what we started out with nice plain black and white.

I got brave and decided to make my bedspread and all of the pillows. and this is what it turned into.

I have always liked the way that canopy beds looked but I kneew that right now we arent able to afford the whole BED part of the "canopy bed" so I decided that i could make the canopy.

I got some PVC pipe and cut them the length that i needed them, put some of the corner connector thingys on them (the HOME DEPOT guy helped pick them) then spray painted all of it black. (inspired by my mother-in-law who is the queen of spray paint) hooked them together. and got black zip-ties that have holes in the end of them and put a screw through the hole and screwed the whole thing in the ceiling. then put my "canopy" part up (complimets of the leftovers of my moms curtains.) totally this project cost me $3 for spray paint $2 for PVC pipe. and about $25 for fabric. this $30 makeover turned out better then i thought !!!

When i made my pillows .... (forever ago) i decided that i was going to do something with my bedspread or the lack thereof. So i bought some fabric... sewed some pieces together. did a couple of frilly things and this is what i came up with. I hope brock likes it when he gets home from work. the only thing left i have to do is a couple of small pillows and a head board.

Ok so i took my last final today. AND I HAVE OFFICIALLY PASSED ALL OF MY CLASSES !!! (thank heavens) So now only 15 more weeks of school and i am officially an RN !! (woot woot) But in the mean time.... I have discovered that i get myself into more then i bargain for a lot of the time. beginning with this......

A while ago i decided that i didnt really like our bedspread. so i decided that i was just going to do something really simple and neat. And anybody that knows me knows that i love black and white. in fact if you look in my closet thats what i wear a lot of the time and my whole house is black and white its almost ridiculous.. well.. this is what happened and i have only just begun.

Brock and I got to go to the fair with some of my very favorite girls this past week! It was so much fun to get to spend some time with my sisters and walk around the fair (even addi was there) Also while we where there Brock had quite the time. On sunday we were out kicking the balls for the dogs and as dex let his go one of them had a rope still on and it gave brock a nasty rope burn. after that brock kicked and ended up giving himself turf toe !!

SO while I was skimming blogs i found this cute mirror that this lady had made, and instantly thought oh yeah i could do that easy. well it wasnt as easy as it looked that was for sure. (could have been because i didn't measure things right 100%) Also i got a mirror for a dollar, well like brock always says you get what you pay for. so its finished and i kinda like it but i am going to be redoing this project now that i think i have it down!

I had never been to Lake Powell before and Brock was dying to get away so we decided that we would go with some of Brocks friends. (thanks for driving Stuart). Brandon Bess & his family let us come hang out with them on their house boat and showed us the time of our lives! here are some pics from our adventures.

For the 24th (which is a utah holiday, who knew !!) brock and i went camping with my family and the lunds. while we were there there was this huge mountain that we decided to climb. we all thought that it was going to take us hours and hours and hours so we packed about a whole case of water bottles in a couple of bags and started heading up. On our way up we discovered that dexter is not completely human, in fact he has some mountain goat in him. he flew up the mountain like it was nothing and all of the rest of us (brock, me, christine, and eden) struggled to keep up with him. it actually only ended up taking us about 45 minutes to really get to the top. On the way down we were just on slate rock which is very slippery, and with every step that you took you went down about 4 feet. after we got the hang of it, it actually was kind of fun. brock yelled the whole way down "WATCH OUT AVALANCHE !!!"

Later that night we were looking up the mountains and saw that there were some mountain goats up at the top. we decided that it would be fun to see how close we could get to them. This time it was Britni, Christ, Eden, Madeleine, and me and brock. Oh and dexter also came but took a different way and basically just ran straight up and scared them all away before we got to them (hence why we think he is part mountain goat.) We had a really good time. One night as we sat around the camp fire we got my dad and scott to karaoke with us, which was you put the ipod in your ear turn it up so you cant hear a thing and sing. My dad's song of choice was of course Celine Dions "im your lady" and scotts was the exact opposite " summer of 69."

Just down the road from Meadow lake is this small little abandoned mining town called gilmore. we went down to the ruins and took some pictures. The pictures that were taken on the bridge were pretty scary it was not very sturdy. In one of them you can see that brock has pulled me to try and startle me into thinking i was going to fall, and let me tell you it worked. we were about 20 feet in the air. besides that it was a pretty cool place.

Last night brock and i went to the park last night to "study" (Brock is easily distracted and inhibited my studies immensely) Just as it was starting to get dark we were walking back to our car and i suggested that we swing on the swings for a little bit. so we did. Brock started twisting back and forth like he said he did when he was a kid. Next thing i know brock had stopped swinging and was saying he was getting sick. so we headed over to the little mary-go-round thingy and i let him push me on that, as it was spinning i crawled over to the other side. Brock wanted to try so i pushed him while he tried to crawl to the other side. We were giggling our heads off and just as he reached the other side he says Haili stop this thing stop it I am going to throw up. All i could do was laugh my head off!!! to say the least brock was sick all night. and we have discovered that we are getting old, and we cant quite do the same things we used to do when we were "kids"

Brock and I have been gone this whole week !! Brock went to New York for work, and I decided to go to Idaho. My brother blessed his boys on Sunday and it was amazing. Those two little boys are miracles to our family. I just had to get some of them on my blog but for their privacy they will be on my parents blog, (it is private.) For the last week or so Brock has been having me feel his lymphs because he says "they hurt real bad." He started getting a fever and I finally started paying more attention to this and I looked in the back of his throat and sure enough it looked like strep throat. So we sent him to the doctor and he got his strep test-the rapid one came back negative but the doctor said he still thought he had it. He sent Brock to get his blood drawn to be checked for mono because he has been feeling really tired lately. we got the results and IT WAS NEGATIVE !!! we are still waiting for the results of his strep test but should have those this next week. In the mean time he is on antibiotics, he even complained to the DOC and got some lortab for his "aches" hahaha so I have been doing some nursing right here in my own home.

ok so it has been forever since we have updated, and since I am really busy and I should be studying i decided to do it today!!! (procrastination) there have been so many things going on since we last posted. 1st of all Chase got his mission call to Fiji !!! and i guessed it -very lucky. We also went to idaho and branded with my family. Brock has started summer school and I am getting a break in a week !! OH and my birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I have been buggin Brock like crazy to get me dance lessons. so he did!! we are currently attending ballroom classes every thursday !! We are also so excited that summer is here, except for last night. Our apartment was BAKING so at about 5 in the morning i guess Brock couldn't take it any longer he went outside on our balcony and slept on our futon. Needless to say we are going to borrow my parents portable AC ASAP. so here are a few of the things we have captured. they have not been edited !!

Well about 2 weeks ago Brock was chasing me around the house and our laptop was on top of our table and plugged in. As Brock was passing by the table the cords got stuck on his feet and sent our laptop flying. Long story short our laptop is broken. Also a new update is that Brock got stitches. The interesting thing about them is that he refused to go to the emergency room and pay the expenses there. SO with leaving names out he went to a very popular dentist and got 10 very pretty stitches. (I will post pictures soon) he is so proud of them!! Also Brock has become quite the traveler. The Hansen family went to St. George this weekend to do some golfing and shopping. I couldn't get out of school so I got left behind. And next week Brock is going to be in Georgia.

Brock and I were going to go to Maddox for Valentines "eve" I guess you could say. But that just didn't work out. So we planned to go to the Asian Star on Valentines day. But Saturday morning I woke up and cleaned our house while Brock went and played basketball. My mom called me and said Haili, Christine is going to the doctor she is having contractions and she might go into labor. So i called Brock and told him he needed to come home we were going to idaho. so he came right home and we left off to Idaho. On our way there we were told that Christine had a C-section and the boys were doing great and both of them were intibated, and were going to be transferred to Idaho Falls. ( I wanted them to come to SLC so I could watch over them) but I.F. worked great for Dex and Chris. when I got there i got to go in the room with the boys and take pictures of them. I couldnt believe how small they were. Right now the boys are in Idaho Falls and are doing as good as they can be (so i am told) so all is well with them. And of course we couldnt forget about Addisyn she is so so so cute !!! but we had a great Valentines weekend being around family and getting to see those little miracle babies !!

I cannot figure out how to turn pictures the right way up!!! This past week Brock and I have been going to Christmas party after Christmas party. They were all great. Last night we went to the lights at temple square, and it was freezing cold. People were there in their snow suits and bundled up beyond belief. but i guess we were the naive ones.

We are not the best people when it comes to doing stuff like this, but we decided that we should get our blog going so that there is more then just a blank black page. Our plans are all coming together all we have left to do is flowers and ties and those should be done this week !!! We can't wait. Oh by the way Thanks to everybody who has helped us get this whole process finished. expecially Luke and Jen, they are doing everything with our pictures and video, and they are doing some pretty amazing things. Brock and I are taking pictures tomorrow so we should be able to put some more pics up later
